Things to Do when your Computer Mouse doesn’t Work

Posted on 23:26 by Unknown

Improper working of computer mouse is something that no computer user wants to deal with. This annoying situation affects your work a lot. So, do not ignore this problem as it won’t be fixed by itself. You might face different types of issues with your computer mouse. And getting rid of them is imperative. But, the question is how to solve mouse problems? Well, before solving we need to identify the precise problem. This will help us fix the problem rather replacing the complete mouse. Proper function of mouse will make your computer experience much easier. So, let’s take a look at some common mouse problems and their solutions.

Tips for Solving Mouse Problems:-
  •  Do you’ve a traditional trackball mouse and face problem in rolling the ball? If yes, then it’s a normal issue. This kind of mouse is prone to more problems. The trackball collects a bunch of lint from the mouse pad or from the desk. The lint stuck inside the mouse and blocks the ball moment. So, pop the ball out, use a smooth cloth to clean it and inside the mouse.
  •  If you’re unable to move your cursor, reboot your computer. This is a common problem faced by many users. Sometimes the problem occurs in device driver which can be fixed with a simple reboot.
  • If your mouse doesn’t work even after reboot, unplug and plug it back. If still the problem is unfixed, try to use another mouse if you’ve handy. This will make sure whether the problem is in your mouse or lies somewhere else.
  •  If the problem is in your computer, reinstall the mouse software. The required software installation file is basically found in the motherboard CD. Reboot your computer after the installation is over. Now, you’ll find your mouse working properly.
  • You can also update your mouse software to make it work better. To do this, you need to first open your device manager dialog box. Press the Windows key and without lifting your finger, press the letter R. When you find the run box opened, type devmgmt.msc in it and then click on OK. Now you’ll get the Device Manager box in which you’ll find “Mice and other pointing devices” option. Double click on it to expand and get the “HID-compliant mouse” option. Right click on it to get the “Update Driver…” option.
  •  Sometimes the mouse pointer jumps around instead of pointing to the place you want to focus. To fix this problem, you need to alter some settings in the BIOS of your computer. If you’re not technically that good, get this problem fixed by an expert. This will also make sure that you don’t end up with even more problems.
Computer mouse problem is a normal issue which should not hold you back or stop your work. Ensure to keep an eye on your mouse’s performance regularly, so that you can resolve future problems that may occur with it. I believe the above tips will help you fix common mouse problems with ease.
